Hey! If you found our website, you’re clearly a dog lover – just like us!  Thanks for stopping by.  Here’s a quick back story on how we found dogdnatestingreviews.com

A few years ago my husband I rescued our dog Belle from a shelter.  Right when we saw her we knew we were going home with our new pup (she was actually 3 years old).  Before walking into the shelter we didn’t really have any specific requirements for the breed we wanted.  Just a lovable dog and preferably medium sized.  When we got her home we started taking guesses on what breed she might be.  The guesses were all over the board – some lab, maybe part hound or spaniel.  Really we had no clue.  As our curiosity peaked, we started looking into dog DNA testing.  We assumed that you had to go to a vet to get one.  After a little research we found a few companies that offered in-home dog DNA kits.  We could take a quick swap, sent it in and in a few weeks get the results back.

The problem was that we had no clue which dog dna test we should buy.  As we continued our research we found ourselves a bit frustrated at the information we were finding.  There was either a lack of it or when found, definitely not impartial.

We finally ended up deciding on the Embark dog DNA test kit.  We were really happy with the results and Embark is actually our favorite test to date (and we’ve tried many more after the first one).

So we ordered the kit and went through the process.  We waited to get the results like a kid on Christmas.  We were way off on our guesses.  Our Belle ended up being 15% lab, 15% retriever, 20% boxer and 50% Weimaraner.  Definitely not what we thought.  We also received additional information about genetic markers which has helped in our care of Belle.

So after being frustrated about the lack of information, but happy with our results, we decided to start up DogDNATestingReviews.com.  It’s been so awesome to dive into all things dogs and dog dna testing.  We’ve enjoyed sharing all the information we’ve found and lover hearing from our readers when it’s helped them in their dog dna test kit decision process.

So we’ll keep researching and posting information.  If you have any questions for us, feel free to reach out!  We love helping out.
